(Published by Inland Forest Management, Inc.)Sawmill ChangesThe Inland Northwest continues to experience a consolidation of the forest products industry. Crown Pacific has recently announced they will sell their Bonners Ferry sawmill to Louisiana Pacific. Furthermore, Crown Pacific will close their Coeur d'Alene mill. Crown intends to retain ownership of their forestland and has entered into a ten-year agreement to provide logs to Louisiana Pacific. Earlier this summer Plummer Forest Products, a mill affiliated with Riley Creek Lumber Company, began purchasing logs for their facility in Plummer, Idaho. This mill generally purchases small logs by the ton, with a minimum acceptable top diameter of four inches. Return to Newsletter Article Index
