National Forester Convention

Spring 2012

Foresters and landowners from throughout the United States will descend on Spokane this fall for the national convention of the Society of American Foresters (SAF). The theme of the 5-day convention is “Resilient Forests” and will include topics such as the legacy of the 1910 Big Burn, forest ecology, and resilient forests for the 22nd Century. The convention will also include a tour of Steve and Janet Funk’s Tree Farm. The Funks, IFM clients, were recognized as the 2011 National Tree Farmers of the Year by American Tree Farm System, a forest industry sponsored certification and recognition program for forest owners.

The convention is October 24th through 28th and is open to all interested individuals. Two previous SAF conventions in Spokane enjoyed excellent participation with more than 2,000 attendees. For more information, contact our office or the SAF website: www.safnet.org

SAF was founded by Gifford Pinchot, US forestry and conservation pioneer, over 100 years ago and includes professional foresters from all facets of the profession.
