Logs are very plentiful in most mill yards and log buyers are being conservative with pricing. In fact, numerous sawmills are still not buying private logs in order to reduce inventories. Compounding the situation is the fact that lumber prices have fallen dramatically since last fall and remain at levels significantly below a year ago. It is not anticipated that prices will move much this summer and it is likely there will be mills curtailing purchases to manage log flow.
