Seasonal Forester

Inland Forest Management, Inc., a dynamic consulting forestry company based in Sandpoint, Idaho, is currently accepting resumes for a seasonal position in the Inland Northwest area. Job qualifications and further information regarding the position follow.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or two-year technical degree in Forest Management is preferred, but all individuals with substantial forestry-related classwork will be considered.

  • Three months of field forestry experience in the western United States. Or enrolled in a college (university or technical school) forestry program
  • Wildland Firefighter experience desirable, but not required
  • High level of physical fitness

SALARY
Commensurate with experience

LENGTH OF SEASON
Approximately April (or later if in school) through November, with the opportunity to extend as the individual gains experience. Work time can be adjusted to accommodate school schedule requirements.

POSITION DUTIES
Forest inventory, timber cruising, timber sale inventory, prescribed burning, and wildfire suppression
Some job-site camping required

Full Time Forester

Inland Forest Management, Inc., a dynamic consulting forestry company based in Sandpoint, Idaho, is currently accepting resumes for a full-time permanent position in the Inland Northwest area.  Further information regarding the position follows.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Private forest landowner assistance
  • Forest management plan preparation
  • Timber sale layout and administration
  • Tree planting layout and supervision
  • Assessing private forestland for forest health and wildfire risk
  • Forest inventory
  • Prescribed burning and wildfire suppression
  • Occasional away-from-home travel required

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from an accredited school
  • Six months of field forestry experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Wildland firefighter experience is desirable, but not required
  • Forest inventory skills are desirable, but not required
  • High level of physical fitness

SALARY
Competitive with industry standards, based on experience

Wildland Firefighter

  • Wildland firefighter II preferred but not required. 
  • Forest inventory experience may provide additional opportunities.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Wildfire suppression. 
  • Equipment maintenance.
  • Some job-site camping required.
