Background:
Dick is a native of North Idaho, having been born and raised in the Sandpoint area. While growing up, he worked on his family’s dairy/tree farm and for his father’s logging company. Upon graduation from college, he went to work for the Oregon Department of Forestry for seven years. Following his career with the State, Dick worked for one year with Weyerhaeuser as the company’s Eastern Oregon Fire Protection Specialist in Klamath Falls. He then returned home to North Idaho and in 1984 helped to develop IFM. He was co-owner of IFM until 2014. When not fishing, driving the RV or working on Karen’s “to do” list, Dick occasionally assists with wildfire suppression. He also helps manage his family’s 200-acre tree farm near Sandpoint.
